MAT MCNERNEY’S SCORPION MILK RETURNS WITH NEW SIX TRACK RELEASE FLESH MASKS FOR SKULLS
(25 SEPTEMBER)
AVAILABLE ON LIMITED BONE WHITE VINYL + CD, INCLUDES SPECIAL REMIX COURTESY OF ULVER
“Even the scorpion learns to dance when the wolves draw near and the milk turns to moonlight.” – Ulver
Following swiftly in the wake of the critically acclaimed debut Slime of the Times, Scorpion Milk returns with a new six-track EP, Flesh Masks For Skulls, set for release on 25th September. Alongside four new original tracks, the EP features two newly recorded cover versions: Gang of Four’s ‘What We All Want’ and Devo’s ‘Gut Feeling’. The release also features a special remix of one of Slime of the Times’ standout tracks, ‘All Snakes No Ladders’, reimagined by renowned Norwegian sonic experimentalists Ulver. The remix arrives alongside a new video, created while McNerney was on tour in the US.
The ‘All Snakes No Ladders’ remix sees Ulver transform and expand upon the original, with McNerney describing the Norwegian collective as “one of the most important bands of our time” and expressing his honour at having them reimagine the track.
“Ulver’s remix of All Snakes No Ladders succeeds in amplifying aspects of the song which reframe but also heighten it in a way that lets you rediscover the song and what it means. It was meant to be. Tör’s drums and what he did with the track here are MORE, more Tör. “Most remixes just abstract a song and do something different, and don’t reflect on the song at all. Ulver’s remix actually makes you enjoy the song all over again in a new way. After listening to the remix you can go back to Slime Of The Times and hear things in the songs that you might have missed the first time around. “I can accept that, to many, this might be the only version of the song they want to hear from now on, and I’m down with that. Deep thanks to magic wolves.”
The accompanying video draws on the themes behind the original track, inspired by the decadence and depravity of Las Vegas. The result is a psychedelic collection of strange and surreal moments captured on the road. “I shot many clips of all the weird and unreal things we experienced in the US, including being reborn from a giant vagina built by director John Waters at his venue in Oakland, or a Starlink launch witnessed from the middle of the Nevada desert. “This video was all amateur hand-made phone footage shot by me and my friend Kimmo, and poorly edited by me, and you can see that clearly and psychedelically.”

SCORPION MILK RETURN WITH SECOND SINGLE FROM DEBUT ALBUM SLIME OF THE TIMES (19 September)
‘SHE-WOLF OF LONDON’ OUT TODAY WITH VIDEO, FEAT. WILLIAM VON GHOULD FROM CREEPER
THE DEBUT SOLO ALBUM OF APOCALYPTIC POST-PUNK FROM BEASTMILK AND GRAVE PLEASURES MASTERMIND, MAT MCNERNEY
Following the release of their debut single last month, Scorpion Milk are back today with their new offering ‘She-Wolf Of London’. It’s the second single to be taken from the upcoming debut album Slime Of The Times, out 19 September. The new single features William Von Ghould from British horror punkers Creeper and arrives with a brand-new video edited by Mat McNerney.
“I am a fan of Will’s voice and work with Creeper. ‘She Wolf of London’ needed that gothic swagger and a touch of Albion grime that Von Ghould expertly purveys. This song is a twisted love letter to the cursed bloodlines of British horror, the haunted streets of my youth, and lycanthropic seduction.” – Mat McNerney

Scorpion Milk is the new project from Mat McNerney; the founding creator of Beastmilk’s highly-revered ‘Climax’ album and the subsequent three Grave Pleasures albums. Infused with elements of Beastmilk’s original DNA, debut album ‘Slime of the Times’ marks the most direct, raw, and explosive evolution of his self-defined genre: Apocalyptic Post-Punk. An eclectic artist in his own right, McNerney’s roots are also firmly in the black metal underground of Finland and Norway, and continues to work in that genre (having formerly featured as vocalist for Dødheimsgard, among others), plus is also currently active with his band, Hexvessel.
Continuing the lineage of Mat’s cult post-punk and goth-metal hybrid music, Scorpion Milk draws from the decaying spiritual core of UK anarcho-punk and 80s post-punk with an opus ideal for fans of Killing Joke, Godflesh, Crass, Flux Of Pink Indians, Crisis, The Fall, and early Sisters of Mercy, yet also set to resonate with contemporary audiences into Health, Drab Majesty, Soft Kill, High Vis, Molchat Doma, Creeper, and Uniform.

SCORPION MILK ANNOUNCE DEBUT ALBUM SLIME OF THE TIMES (19 September)
THE DEBUT SOLO ALBUM OF APOCALYPTIC POST-PUNK FROM BEASTMILK AND GRAVE PLEASURES MASTERMIND, MAT MCNERNEY
NEW SINGLE + VIDEO ‘ANOTHER DAY ANOTHER ABYSS’ OUT NOW
Recently signed to Peaceville, Scorpion Milk have shared their first new music today, alongside news of the debut album Slime Of The Times (out 19th September). The new single ‘Another Day Another Abyss’ arrives with a brand-new video, revealing Scorpion Milk’s darkly imaginative universe for the first time.
“It is about trying to stay upright under the daily flood of catastrophe, the headlines, the numbness, the helplessness. But there’s a double edge to it: the only way to get through the abyss is to become it. To move through the darkness, you have to carry some of it inside you.” – Mat McNerney
“I used AI to create the video because we’re living inside the very dystopia we fear the most. The song deals with the psychological weight of modern catastrophe, and AI as both a tool and a threat, mirrors that perfectly. A mirror can be humorous but also diabolical. It’s an aesthetic artistic choice, but also a commentary: our nightmares are now automated.” – Mat McNerney

Joining Mat on ‘Slime of the Times’ is a whole host of cross-scene collaborators, featuring Tor Sjödén (Viagra Boys) on drums, Nate Newton (Converge, Cave In) on bass guitar, as well as special guest appearances from Killing Joke’s Big Paul Ferguson, plus Will Gould of Creeper offering lead vocals on the track ‘She Wolf of London’.
‘Slime of the Times’ was produced by McNerney himself & recorded at Pine Hill Studio in Finland, with mixing carried out by Wayne Adams at Bear Bites Horse, London. Mastering was conducted at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London. Furthermore, the album features striking artwork by Danu Bharatu, known for his visceral, expressionist work with Uniform, Wolfbrigade, and Portrayal of Guilt — reinforcing the project’s abrasive, end-of-days aesthetic and crossover visual appeal.
